The Director - Product Marketing reports to the Chief Marketing Officer (CM) and is responsible for defining the product marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and go to market plans for Cielo’s products and services. The Director will leverage market research and internal expertise to develop differentiated offerings and value propositions. S/he will work closely with Business Development and Sales Enablement to create/refine/activate messaging and training and with Global Marketing on product launches and ongoing campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Product Marketing Foundation – build, continuously improve and evangelize Cielo’s Product Marketing methodology aligned with business and growth strategy and industry best practice.
  • Product Roadmap – create and prioritize product roadmap based on market and internal assessments.
  • Market intelligence – gather intelligence from direct customer contact and surveys, trade shows and publications, sales input, analyst reports, monitoring industry trends, competitors and suppliers to identify market problems and opportunities for Cielo. Develop personas on Cielo’s buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria and use this knowledge to inform product messaging, differentiation, marketing content and sales training. Ensure this knowledge is shared to enable our leaders to demonstrate subject matter expertise.
  • Competitor analysis – identify our actual and potential competitors and evaluate their strategies, pricing and positioning. Assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and devise counter-strategies.
  • Product strategy and planning – create product value proposition and Pont of View for each product enhancement and/or launch.
  • Go to market launches - plan and implement the strategy for new product launches, collaborating with marketing, business development, and service delivery to ensure well-coordinated execution internally and externally.
  • Marketing content – provide input to marketing on demand generation and content marketing campaigns to ensure we have expertly crafted content that speaks to buyer needs, differentiation and product strategy.
  • Sales enablement – collaborate with Sales Enablement teams to create content, deliver training, and create assets including sales presentations, business case/ROI tools, demos, case studies, endorsements and other materials.
  • Stay current in B2B marketing best practices and ensure Cielo is on the leading edge, creating a competitive advantage through marketing.
  • Model and encourage behaviors that are aligned with company values.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

Experience:

  • Must have 8+ years of relevant leadership experience in product marketing/management in a B2B organization (HCM industry preferred).

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong leader who can translate complex business needs into effective product marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Experience working globally and building relationships with colleagues to work effectively across multiple regions.
  • Effective working in a matrixed organization, managing stakeholder communication and facilitating change.
  • Expert writer with proven ability (and work samples) to create product positioning, messaging and sales tools.
  • Strong analytical thinker who can assess the market, the competition and share that knowledge with the business.
  • Customer-centric thinker, aligning Cielo’s approach to their challenges, goals and the way they buy.
  • Passionate about partnering with sales to win new business.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills. 
  • Fluent in Sirius Decisions Demand Waterfall and foundational modern marketing technology including CMS (Umbraco), CRM (Salesforce), marketing automation (Marketo), analytics (Google and Tableau).
  • Results-focused, setting measurable goals and measuring ROI.
